In Demagogue, your goal is to consolidate absolute authority by any means necessary. But ascending to power requires winning the hearts of the people, and maintaining your grip on the nation requires carefully balancing Political Capital and navigating Polarization and Resistance.
Exploit Factions
Play different demographic and income groups against each other. Manage their Support and Enfranchisement, and stoke Polarization to keep your base energized and the opposition divided.
Subvert Institutions
Your regime is only as strong as your control over the state. Chip away at the independence of the Judiciary, Legislature, and Media, and ensure the loyalty of the Military and Civil Service.
Ruthless Maneuvers
Play powerful Action Cards to pass partisan legislation, purge moderates, or implement gerrymandering. Manage Resistance levels to avoid mass protests or military intervention.
Campaign Promises
Make bold promises to secure power, but be prepared to follow through or face the wrath of your supporters and active grudges against your administration.
